    Herbert Focay Johnson, affectionately known as “Boozer,” 77, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late George and Hattie Johnson.
    Herbert had worked as a bridge builder in the construction industry.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Trevis Johnson; one sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Summerous; and one grandson, Marcus Johnson.
    Herbert is survived by one daughter, Sonya Johnson and her boyfriend Billy, whom Herbert already considered to be his son; four brothers, Jason Johnson and wife Crystal, James “Zeke” Johnson and wife Evon, Bo Johnson and wife Gail, and Tony Johnson and wife Regita; four sisters, Barbara Ann Hall, Jorja Johnson, Jennifer Johnson Trammell and husband Ron, and Fannie Johnson and husband Lamar; one grandchild, Trevissa Johnson; four great-grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Harold L. Holbrook Jr. officiated. Music was conducted by Annie Lloyd.
    The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel.
