    Henry Stalcup, 92, of Marble, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022.  
    He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.  
    Henry joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He then joined the United States Air Force and worked on helicopters in Greenville, S.C.
    Henry married the love of his life, Dorothy Solesbee Stalcup, on July 19, 1952.
    He managed TransCarolina Concrete in Murphy for many years until it closed. Henry then worked in maintenance at Clifton Precision for over 20 years until retirement.
    He was a member of Valleytown Baptist Church.
    Henry loved to fish and was a member of Tri-County Bass Club. Henry also enjoyed gardening.
    He was the son of the late Will and Blanche Moss Stalcup and his stepmother, Della Huskins Stalcup. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Ira and Charlie Stalcup.
    Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Solesbee Stalcup of Marble; one daughter, Teresa and husband David Raxter of Nantahala; three sons, Bobby Stalcup and wife Wanda of Murphy, Barry Stalcup and wife Sherry of Marble, and Brian Stalcup and wife Lynn of Clayton, Ga.; one brother, James Stalcup of Marble; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Rickett and husband Phillip, Jennifer Thompson and husband Trevor, Tera McKinney and husband Shane, Curtis Raxter and wife LeeAnna, Scott Stalcup and wife Brandy, Josh Stalcup and fiancee Lindsey, Michael Stalcup and wife Megan, Michelle Bell and husband Bryan, Brian Stalcup Jr., and wife Breanna, and Blake Stalcup; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home in Andrews with the Revs. Mickey Stewart and Jim Beasley officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Scott Stalcup, Josh Stalcup, Michael Stalcup, Curtis Raxter, Brian Stalcup Jr., Blake Stalcup, Shane McKinney and Phillip Rickett. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews.
