    Glada F. Martin, 95, of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in a Murphy hospital.
    She was a native of Spencer, W.Va., but had lived in Cherokee County since 1949.
    She was a homemaker and member of the Extension Homemakers and Murphy First Baptist Church. Glada was a nationally-known quilter.
    She was the daughter of the late Grant and Eupha Sheppard Coon. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Hunt; and a son, Larry Martin.
    Surviving are a son, Jerry Martin of Murphy; a sister, Elwanda Webb of Lawton, Okla.; and five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating. The interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Gabe Martin, Dan Martin, Tammy Martin, Dean Mashburn, Grier Ivie and John Ivie.
    The family received friends from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the services.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Glada F. Martin to REACH of Cherokee County Inc., P.O. Box 977, Murphy, NC 28906.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
