    Benny Eugene Morrow, 70, of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
    Eugene was born in Polk County, Tenn., to the late Ben Gaston and Beatrice “Bea” Raper Morrow Quinn.
    He worked construction before going to work at Tennessee Chemical in the mines in the mid-1970s. Eugene worked at different jobs in the mines and became a foreman before the mines closed. After the mine closure, he came to the Ferri-Floc Plant at Tennessee Chemical and became general foreman at the plant. When the Ferri-Floc closed, Eugene finished his career at the company as a wastewater operator at the plant. Eugene worked 30 years in Copperhill at the Tennessee Chemical Company.
    He coached basketball and softball, and was also a basketball referee. Eugene served on the board of the Cherokee County Social Services and was a former Cherokee County Commissioner.
    He was a member of Notla Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Whitmore Morrow; daughter, Andrea Lynn Morrow; stepfather, Quince Clyde Quinn; stepsister, Debbie Hall; and stepbrother, Gary Quinn.
    He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Kephart (Larry) of Murphy; two grandchildren, Jesse and Andrea Kephart; sister, Katherine Kearley of Hickory; stepsisters, Linda Graves and Brenda Pharham; and friend, Susie Barnes.
    Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Whitmore Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Kephart, Robert Cobb, Ray Whitmore, Eric Hogsed, and Chandler and Chase Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles “Zero” Stiles, Ray Donald Morrow and Kevin Chapman.
    The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
