Ethel G. Jones, 93, of Andrews, took her heavenly flight on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at 8:15 a.m. at her home with her daughter, Pansy, and granddaughter, Leigh, by her side.
She was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Kent, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late George and Estelle Wilkins Garrett, who lived in Hayesville.
She loved to sew, go to church and was artistically multi-talented. She was a member of Murphy Church of God.
She retired from Baker’s Furniture in Andrews.
She was preceded by her brothers, John, Fred and Luther Garrett; her daughter, Patsy and son, Ramen.
Surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Garrett; daughter, Pansy (P.J.); sons, Charles and Harvey Jones. She has six grandchildren, Leigh, Christy (husband Eric), Brook (husband Dr. Eugene Simopoulos), April, Laura and David. She has six great-grandchildren, Katie, Jennilynn, Shawn, Dorian, Thalia and Aristotle. Also, special friends, Tammy Jones, Dianne Morrow, Lori Travers and Dr. Thomas Clayton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 23, at Cochran Funeral Home in Murphy, with Pastor Phillip Cochran officiating. Music will be provided by Mary Alice Newton and Christy Jordan. Pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Eric Jordan, Jarrett Moses and Allen Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Jones, David Jones, Carlos Curtis, Junior Rowland and Archie Tabor.
Visitation will be from 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, and the funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. The burial service will be at Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews.
