    Ethel Evans Cunningham, 79, of Andrews, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021.
    Ethel was born Aug. 1, 1942, in Graham County to the late Walter and Lillian Honor Hooper.
    She was the owner and operator of Ethel’s Day Care. Ethel had also worked at the Lee jeans plant and American Uniform.
    Ethel was a member of Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Murphy.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Darwood Cunningham; brothers, Leslie Evans, Claude Evans, Bill Evans and J.D. Evans; sisters, Joann Higdon, Bernice Elliott, and half sister, Jean McKeldrey.
    She is survived by two daughters, Sabrina Billingsley and husband Joey, and Denise Cunningham; stepdaughter, Cathy Cunningham; stepson, Larry “Dale” Cunningham; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Pastor Hoyt Brown officiated. Burial was at Maggies Chapel Cemetery in Brasstown. Pall-bearers were Joey Billingsley, Dylan Morrow, Jonathan Carver, David Stiles, David Carver, Packy Evan, Josh Cannon and Frankie Whidden.
    The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ethel’s honor to Maggies Chapel Cemetery Fund.
