    Ernest Earl Davis, 90, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, in Lakeland, Fla.
    He was born in Murphy on July 13, 1931, into a family of 13 children to the late James A. Davis and Blanche E Allen Davis.
    Ernest was a loving husband, father of four, grandfather and great-grandfather.
    He was a U.S. Army veteran attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was an owner-operator with Watkins Motor Lines for 28 years.
    He was a member of Kathleen Baptist Church.
    He loved the outdoors and was an avid trout fisherman.
    Ernest loved spending time with family including his little chihuahua and companion, Chico. He was an amazing father and was a giant among men, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need.
    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Bandy Davis; daughters, Vicki Chesterfield (Chester), Sandra Garrigues (Wayne), Jennifer Lowers (Brian), all of Lakeland Fla.; son, Chuck Davis (Joanne) of Polk City, Fla.; grandchildren Candy Hart (Keseva), Greg Garrigues (Gabby), Elisabeth Brown (Jonathan), Taylor Lowers (Emily), Kristen Davis; five great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Hedrick (Boyd) of Mills River.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Velda Davis (John), Lela Davis, Hattie Lovingood (Conley), Effie Palmer (Woodrow), Jane Wells (Pinkney), Ellen Ellis (Ted), Vanna O’Dell (Roscoe); and brothers, Union Davis, Maynard Davis and Homer Davis.
    A memorial service will be held at a future date at the Bushnell Military Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
