    Elizabeth Dianne Frye, 65, of Andrews, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, in an Asheville hospital.
    She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. She was a graduate of Andrews High School and had a bachelor’s degree in education from Mars Hill College.
    Dianne retired in 2005 after 28 years as an elementary school teacher at Andrews. In 1983, she received the Outstanding Educator Award.
    Dianne was a devoted Christian and a member of Andrews First Baptist Church. She enjoyed swimming and socializing with her close friends.
    She was the daughter of the late Ray Sidney and Divola Brooks Frye.
    Surviving are her brother, Thomas Ray Frye and wife Lisa of Marble; a special nephew, Blake Ritz of Murphy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Andrews First Baptist Church with the Revs.Calvin Bobo and Blake Ritz officiating. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Gray, Jerry Brooks, Ronnie Trammel, Cole Postell, Jeffery West and Marlin “Bud” West. Honorary pallbearer was James McLean.
    The body lay in state at Andrews First Baptist Church from 1-1:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Elizabeth Dianne Frye to Truett Baptist Association Children’s Home, 2235 N.C. 141, Marble, NC 28905.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, was in charge of all arrangements.
