    Edith Johnson Thorpe, 72, of Topton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Cumming, Ga., with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.  
    Ms. Thorpe was born June 8, 1949, in Lakeland, Fla. She has been reunited with her parents, Joseph Carl Johnson Jr. and Nancy Lippincott Johnson; and her dear sister, Diane Worland.
    Edie is survived by her brother, Robert Johnson (Lorraine); her sons, Benjamin (Lindsey) and Amos (Missy) Thorpe; and her grandchildren, Paige, Noah and Isaac Thorpe.
    Edie cherished her family and friends, and had a smile and zest for life that was contagious.
    Edie adored her Heavenly Father and was a member of Andrews United Methodist Church.
    Edie loved to travel and see the world but always loved returning home to her beloved mountains.
    Edie’s most favorite days were the ones she spent with her grandsons who thought the world of their Nona.
    Edie had a passion for baking and is known for her delicious cookies. She turned her passion into a successful business when she started Edie’s Cookies and became a staple at local farmers’ markets in the area.  
    Edie loved us all so well and for that we are eternally grateful. Her love made us better, and her love will carry us forward.
    In keeping with Edie’s wishes, cremation has taken place with SouthCare Cremation & Funeral Society in Alpharetta, Ga.
    A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Andrews United Methodist Church, 101 Chestnut St. in Andrews.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in Edie’s memory, to an educational fund set up for her grandsons. Contributions can be mailed to Edward Jones Financial Services, 514 W.
