    Dorothy Washburn, 99, of Marble, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, in an Andrews care facility.  
    She was a native of Wilmington, N.C., but had lived in Tampa, Fla., before moving to Cherokee County in 1993.
    After 28 years, Dorothy retired as a telephone operator.
    She was a member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, Ga., but also attended services at Andrews United Methodist Church.
    Dorothy enjoyed playing cards with her group of friends, was an avid reader, and a talented and gifted crafter.
    She was the daughter of the late Fred Gary Hutchison and Edna Frances Husband Hutchison, and wife of the late Lowell L. Washburn, who died March 3, 2007.
    She is survived by her loving and dedicated caregiver, Mildred Woody, and also several extended family members and many close friends.
    Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, Ga. Interment will be in the church cemetery.  
    A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church of Blue Ridge, Georgia, P.O. Box 1821, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 or Andrews United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1310, Andrews, NC.
