Doris Faye “Susie” Swanson, 69, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.
She was born July 28, 1952, in Murphy to the late Edgar W. and Linnie Mae Beavers Tanner.
Susie loved to sew, make quilts and writing poetry, and had published two books of poetry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was preceded in death also by several aunts and uncles.
Susie was a member of Moccasin Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Swanson of Murphy; son, Chris (Stephanie) Swanson of Murphy; sister, Aline (Rob) Reid of Chatsworth, Ga.; brothers, Eddie (Jane) Tanner of Murphy, Tommy (Jan) Tanner of Blairsville, Ga., Dale Tanner of Murphy, Wendall (Merry) Tanner of Murphy; grandchildren, Maria Swanson of Ellijay, Ga., Precious Seibert of Clyde, Matthew Swanson of Granite Falls, Taryn Farmer of Murphy and Tyler Thompson of Murphy; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Tanner officiating. Pallbearers were Aaron Freeman, Johnny Beavers, Chris Beavers, Nathan Tanner, Timmy Tanner and Dean Smith. Interment followed in Bellview Community Cemetery. Visitation was held from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of arrangements.
