Diane “Du Bug” Smith, 65, of Murphy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022.
She was a native and lifetime resident of Murphy, and a 1976 graduate of Murphy High School.
She had worked at Main Street and managed at McDonald’s for several years. Diane then began working for MOOG where she worked until retirement.
Diane was a loving mother to everyone in the community. She put others’ needs before her own and enjoyed the company of her family and friends.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as usher and worked with the children and youth groups.
She was the daughter of J.C. and Josephine Moore Smith. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Fannie Smith, Margaret Smith, Martha Smith and Pat Allen; three brothers, Tom Smith, Bobby Smith and Andy Smith; one nephew, T.C. Smith.
Surviving are one son, Tyrea Allen and wife JoAnna of Brevard; one sister, Elizabeth Smith of Murphy; two brothers, James Smith, Rayvan Smith and wife Kelly, also of Murphy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Calvary Chapel, Murphy, with the Revs. Louis Grant and Trent Abling officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jake Smith, Benny Smith, Mark Pickens, Keevon Allen, Paul Douglas Smith, Abram Abling, Jaylyn Abling and J.C. Brown.
The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Friday at Calvary Chapel, Murphy, prior to the service.
