    Mrs. Delphine Dockery, 75, of Glen Loudermilk Road, Murphy, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, following an extended illness.
    Mrs. Dockery was born March 5, 1947, in Copperhill, Tenn., the daughter of the late James Payne and Helen Lowery Payne.
    Della, as she was known to everyone, was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was an excellent caregiver, always putting others needs first. She was a very selfless and loving lady.
    She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kristen McCartney; two brothers, Roger Lynn Payne and Clyde Ray Payne; and sister, Maxine Latimer.
    Mrs. Dockery was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord.
    Surviving Mrs. Dockery are her loving husband and best friend of 56 years, Jerry Dockery of Murphy; two daughters, Sherry Wright of Murphy and Donna Dockery of Charlotte; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Patricia and Tim Gilbreath of Lafayette, Ga., and Wanda Sue Key of Tunnel Hill, Ga.;  two brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Pam Payne of Lafayette, Ga., the Rev. Terry and Beverly Payne of Chickamauga, Ga.; four grandchildren, Thomas Beavers and wife Sydney Beavers, Patrick and Ethan Wright and Colin McCartney; and several nieces, nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Palmer officiating. Special music was presented by the Wilson Family. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Thomas Beavers, Ethan Wright, Patrick Wright, Colin McCartney, Johnny Kernea and Eddie Kernea. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Larry Kernea. Burial services followed in the Bellview Community Cemetery.
    Flowers were accepted or, if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice in Mrs. Dockery’s memory.
    The family met with friends from 1-3 pm. Saturday at the funeral home.
    Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.
