Colleen Payne, 84, of Marble, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021, in an Asheville hospital.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Colleen had worked as an inspector in clothing manufacturing. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was the daughter of the late Lester and Pauline Davis Johnson, and wife of the late Jack Stiles Payne. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carroll Payne, and two brothers, Jerry Johnson and Max Johnson.
Surviving is a granddaughter, Jennifer Eller; a great-grandson, Brady Payne; a great-great-grandson, Maverick Payne; a brother, Logan Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in Moss Cemetery with the Rev. Kenny White officiating. Pallbearers were James Hunt, Allen Crawford, Donnie Simmonds, Johnny Luther, Dean Stalcup and Teddy Burch.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
