Clifford Cearley
Clifford Columbus Cearley, 89, of Young Harris, Ga., passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Union General Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 5, 1933, in Cherokee County, N.C., to the late Ranzy and Bonnie Byers Cearley.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Cearley was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed singing in the choir. He also loved bird hunting, fishing, gardening and raising all of his weenie dogs, but he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything.
Mr. Cearley was a graduate of North Georgia Technical School in Clarkesville, Ga. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Cearley retired from Blue Ridge Mountain E.M.C. with 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Ledford Cearley in 2020; his son, Randy Cearley in 2002; his brothers, Chuck, Cleaston, Frank, Ronnie and Hubert; and two sisters, Geraldine Merrill and Ruby Dotson.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and David Gibson of Dacula, Ga., and Susan and Reggie Kimsey of Hiawassee, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Richard Nichols, Matthew and Brandy Parton, Ashley and Shawn Owens and Charyl Leigh Parton; great-grandchildren, Riley Nichols, Kolby Hughes, Peyton Owens, Caroline and Beau Brannan and Sawyer Parton; brother, Johnny and Sandra Cearley of Copperhill, Tenn.; several beloved nieces and nephews, and a very special neighbor, Jodi Krokonko also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, Blairsville, Ga., with the Revs. Chris Rumfelt and Bobby Griffin officiating. Music will be provided by Chris Rumfelt, Andrea Sissum and David Gibson. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Nichols, Matthew Parton, Shawn Owens, Corey Wright, Chad Ledford and Jimmy Krokonko. Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Nichols, Kolby Hughes, Peyton Owens, Caroline and Beau Brannan and Sawyer Parton.
Interment will follow at Old Union Baptist Church. Military honors will be given by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 1, at the funeral home.
