    Jessie Christine Asher Stacey, 82, born on Christmas Day 1937, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 5, 2020, at the Hermitage in Sylva.  
    Christine was the daughter of the late Haze and Wilma (Roberts) Asher of Hyden, Ky., and wife of Joe Mack Stacey of Cullowhee.
    A 1985 graduate of Western Carolina University with degrees in psychology and social work, she retired from a career as a geriatric social worker, having worked for several years at Autumn Care Center in Haywood County and Graham Care Center in Robbinsville.
    From 1960-83, Chris, along with her former husband, the late Rev. Wayne H. Davis, served the Presbyterian church in ministry in churches in Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama and North Carolina.  
    Jessie Christine is survived by her husband; her children, Paul Davis (Teresa) of Raleigh, Lara Davis Capparuccia (Sean) of Richlands, Carla Davis Rose (Chris) of Raleigh; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Robert Asher (Linda), Jeannette Baker (Johnny), Martha Bueter, Hayes Asher Jr. (Keta), Zilpha Sizemore (Willie), Donnie Wayne Asher; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.  
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Billy Haze Davis and Charles Alfred Davis; and her siblings, Charles Edward (Buddy) Asher, Sophia Asher Burns and Walton Pearl Asher.
    A service of witness to the resurrection and in loving memory of Jessie Christine Asher Stacey was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Reems Creek – Beech Presbyterian Church, 4 Sugar Cove Road, Weaverville, NC 28787.
