    Charles Ray “Chuck” Stanfield, 79, of Topton, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, in North Carolina.
    Chuck was born Sept. 22, 1942, in El Dorado, Ark.
    He spent his youth in Clear Creek, Texas, where he met his future wife, Jan Tate.  
    He was a graduate of Texas Tech University, where he received his bachelor’s degree.
    Chuck served in the United States Air Force and flew KC 135s while in the Vietnam War.
    After returning home, Chuck flew for both Eastern and United Airlines for over 30 years as a pilot and retired in 2001.
    Chuck spent the next decade pursuing adventures, such as sailing, hiking and living on a boat, cruising the southern waters of the United States.  
    In 2012 he and his wife settled in Topton.
    His greatest adventure was living for his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
    He was the son of the late Charles Marion and Alice Anglin Stanfield, and husband of the late Jan “Pip” Stanfield, who died Sept. 16, 2021.
    Surviving are a daughter, Stacey Stanfield of Minneapolis, Minn.; a son, Steve Stanfield and wife Robin of Hugo, Minn.; a sister, Linda Kalinowski and husband Alex of Jasper, Texas; and five grandchildren, Samantha Simpson, Michael Kuhlmann, Charlie Kuhlmann, Tate Stanfield, and Cole Stanfield.  
    A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating.
    The family will receive friends from 1-1:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, prior to the service.
