    Charles O’Dell, 93, of Andrews, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021, in a Murphy hospital.
    He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.
    Charles was a United States Army veteran, who served during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
    He worked for Nantahala Power & Light for many years before his retirement.
    Charles was a member of Briartown Baptist Church.
    He was the son of the late Millard and Sarah Parks O’Dell, and husband of the late Helen Brenda Payne O’Dell, who died Sept. 23, 2020.
    Surviving are a daughter, Martha Roper of Ellijay, Ga.; three sons, Don O’Dell and wife Jeanette of Andrews, Marvin O’Dell and wife Melissa of Robbinsville, and Carl O’Dell and wife Melinda of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with the Rev. Patrick O’Dell officiating. The interment will be in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Murphy American Legion Post 96, Hayesville VFW Post 6812 and Hayesville American Legion Post 532. Pallbearers will be Garrett and Justin Markam, Tommy Davis, and Kenny, Max and Corey O’Dell.
    The family will receive friends from 2-3:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, prior to the services.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of all arrangements.
