    Carol Raper Picklesimer, 76, of Brasstown, formerly of Hiwassee Dam, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021, at her residence.
    She was a native of the Hiwassee Dam community. Carol had worked as a teacher’s assistant at Hiwassee Dam Elementary School for 13 years before retiring in 2005.
    Carol loved life and sharing her smile and happiness with others. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, decorating and spending time with her family. She liked to spend time outdoors, going fishing, boating and camping with family and friends.
    Carol was a devoted member of Bear Paw Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
    She was the daughter of the late Clifton and Gillie Mae Quinn Raper, and wife of the late Garland Picklesimer, who died May 5, 1992. Carol was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Picklesimer Ledford; son, Gregory Picklesimer; two sisters, Barbara Ann Allen and Willa Lou Hedrick; and four brothers, Clem, George, Paul and Steve Raper.
    Surviving are her daughter, Cindy Martin and husband Jeff of Brasstown; three sisters, Nell Britt of Hiwassee Dam, Juanita Stiles of Woodstock, Ga., and Sue Boring and husband Pat of Hiwassee Dam; four grandchildren, Heather Martin Samartino and husband Philip, Daniel Martin, Justin Picklesimer and wife Lisa, and Brittany Picklesimer; and two great-grandchildren, Bristol Picklesimer and Emma Holder.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, in the chapel of Ivie
Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Revs. Steve Ware and Derek Tilley officiating.
    Interment was in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Hedrick, Michael Allen, Keith Allen, Chris Britt, Phillip “Bit” Ledford and Tommy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Roy Hedrick, Clifton Raper, Marshall Boring and Philip Stiles.
    The family received friends prior to the services from noon-1:45 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in memory of Carol Picklesimer to Gideons International, P.O. Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
