    Boyd Millard Hedrick, 95, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Jan.23, 2022.
    He was born April 9, 1926, in Murphy to the late Willard and Sally Mingus Hedrick.
    He spent his early years in Cherokee County, and served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater, being stationed in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands.
    Boyd worked for Cranston Print Works Company in Fletcher, N.C., for 35 years until retirement. After retirement he enjoyed his Bantam chickens, small goats and electric chainsaw. He kept all the trees around the house topped, the shrubbery nicely trimmed, and the yard neatly mowed.
    He was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of Stoney Mountain Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
    In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Woody; and two brothers, Gene W. and Elmer Claude Hedrick.  
    He is survived by his wife, Thelma Davis Griggs Hedrick, and her daughter, Teresa Hopper, both of Hendersonville;  three children, one daughter, Evelyn Hedrick of Fletcher; two sons, Wayne Hedrick, also of Fletcher, and Tony Hedrick of Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Jane Neece, of Gainesville, Ga, and Willa Mae Palmer of Cleveland, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Lindsey Conley and husband Josh, Michael Presley and wife Jennifer, Stephanie Brothers and husband Andy, Josh Hopper and wife Casondra. Nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Stoney Mountain Baptist Church in Hendersonville, with the Revs. Thomas Holbrooks and Charles Rogers officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Presley, Chris Heatherly, Josh Hopper, Andy Brothers, Bob Simpkins and Danny Crisp.
    A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in Moss Cemetery in Marble with military graveside rites conducted by Hayesville VFW Post 6812, Hayesville American Legion Post 532 and Murphy American Legion Post 96.
    The family will receive friends from 10-10:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the church prior to the service.
