    Bob R. Temple, 83, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at his residence.
    He considered himself a native of Lexington, N.C., and had graduated from Lexington Senior High School.
    Bob served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee using heavy equipment with the construction battalion.
    He worked as a milkman while living in Lexington.
    Bob later moved to Murphy in January 1973, where he worked for Carolina Tire Company and retired as a general manager after 29 years.
    He enjoyed working in his yard, watching NASCAR, Gunsmoke and Alabama football.
    He was of the Methodist faith.
    Bob loved spending time with his grandkids.
    Bob was the son of the late George Allen and Bernice Lea Brady Temple, and husband of the late Alice McCrary Temple who died March 8, 2012. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Temple Shoaf; and a brother, Allen Willard Temple.
    Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Lea Temple of Murphy; a son, Edward Ray “Eddie” Temple of Murphy; two grandchildren, Isaiah Lee Temple and Harper Madeline Temple; a sister, Linda Temple Copley and husband Joe, of Lexington; a brother, Steven Brady Temple and wife Carolyn, of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
    Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens beside his wife, and a memorial tribute can be viewed online at www.iviefuneralhome.com.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Murphy Food Pantry, 73 Valley River Avenue, Murphy, NC 28906.
