    Betty Lois Roberson, 75, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022.
    Betty was born in Swain County to the late Grady and Gracie Cook Howard. She had previously lived in Swain County before moving to the Murphy area at the age of 5 years old.
    Betty had worked as a machine operator at Levi Strauss.
    She enjoyed singing and also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was of the Baptist faith.
    In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Dennis Howard, Bill Howard, Grady Howard Jr., Harold Howard and Wayne Payne.
    She is survived by her husband, James Roberson; her sons, Keith Dwayne Roberson, Shane Roberson and Monty Ray Roberson; a daughter, Pamela Hughes; her brothers, R.L. Howard, Wade Howard and Douglas Howard; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
    A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy. The Revs. Douglas Howard, Shane Roberson and Jeffrey Roberson officiate. Burial was at Laurel Branch Cemetery in Bryson City. Pallbearers were Tony Vazquez, Keaton Killian, Lucas Hayes, Jake Bryson and Jeffrey Roberson. Honorary pallbearers were Max and Cole Roberson.
    The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy.
    The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Four Seasons Hospice for taking excellent care of Betty.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital at www.stjude.org.
