    Betty Louise (Fjelstad) Lang, 90, of Murphy, passed away peacefully at the nursing home in Peachtree on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021.
    She was visited regularly by her husband, Jack, of 69 years.
    Betty was born March 21, 1931, in Yonkers, N.Y. She was the fourth of five children of Martin and Selma Fjelstad. She was the last surviving child of that long and happy marriage.
    She met her husband, Jack, at a dance in Yonkers, N.Y. The couple was married in 1952. Betty traveled with her Army officer husband through much of Europe, having lived five years in Turkey and France.
    She and Jack have been a member of the Hot House Community since January 1994.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John and wife Debbi of Vero Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara and husband Marc of Gilbert, Ariz.; her grandson, Dean Lang, and great-granddaughter Dalylah of Vero Beach, Fla.; a grandson, David Lang of Round Tree, Va., along with several nieces and nephews around the United States.
    Betty was preceded in death by her three brothers, Alvin, Edward and Robert Fjelstad, and sister Dorothy.
    Betty was a member of Ranger United Methodist Church during their years in Hot House. A former Sunday school teacher, a Brownie leader and a member of the Methodist Woman’s Group.
    Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never forgot a birthday or other special occasion. In Murphy, she was active in the VFW Auxiliary and her church. She was a 26-year resident of Murphy.
    Betty, a child of the national depression, was an avid coupon cutter and rebate shopper. She enjoyed getting the best deal, potluck dinners, gardening, canning and her long succession of faithful canine friends.
    A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Tim Lee officiated. Interment was at Ranger United Methodist Church Cemetery.
    The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
    Townson-Rose Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
