    Betty Lou (Craig) Franks, born to George and Rosella Craig of Zion, Ill.,, on Dec. 26, 1938, stepped into the arms of Jesus, her savior, on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022. She was surrounded by her family.
    Betty was married to Joel Franks in Zion, Ill., in 1959.
    She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joel Franks and their six children, Peter (Beth) Franks of Naples, Fla., JoEllen (Jeff) Borden of Dunlap, Ill., Dale (Sandra) Franks of Zion, Ill., Connie (Mike) Patenaude of Zion, Ill., David (Mary) of Kentwood, Mich., Tammy (David) Ott of Murphy; and also, sister, Barbara (Henry) Jones of Andrews; brother, Eugene (Renate) Craig of Andrews; sister, Susanne (Ronald) Heppner of Warroad, Minn., and sister, Peggy (Donald) Dulaney of Zion, Ill. Betty had 26 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many honorary nieces and nephews.
    Betty was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rosella Craig; her brother, Terry Craig; grandson, Payton Franks; granddaughter ,Jodi Mayne; and great-grandson, Lee Mayne.
    In 2014, Betty underwent a kidney transplant and was doing well for many years. In the last couple years, a disease called Calciphylaxis caused her to suffer greatly which ultimately took her life.
    Betty was a long time member of Zion Bible Church, Zion, Ill., and was involved in very many areas. Ladies committees, dinners, kitchen, Awana kids program, missions correspondence and assistance are just a few to name.
    Betty loved sewing and quilting, and was the maker of over 300 extended family Christmas stockings.
    She moved to Andrews in 1986, where she became a member of the Andrews Lions Club and was their treasurer, and volunteered at the Cherokee County Food Bank.
    Betty worshipped at the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
    She loved traveling and seeing the many sights of the USA. Betty was loved by all who met her and her smile was always present.
    A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan.  29, at First Baptist Church of Andrews, 1606 Business Hwy. 19, Andrews, NC 28901.
