Bertha Mae Johnson, 91, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at her residence.
She was born in Union County to the late John Wesley and Florida Mae Hunter Thomas. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late William Harold Johnson.
Bertha was a member of Little Glade Baptist Church. She loved planting flowers and gardening.
Bertha was also preceded in death by a son, Rex Johnson; a daughter, Julie Johnson; brothers, Floyd, William, Clifton and Ballie Thomas; and sister, Kay Thomas.
Surviving are a son, Darrin Johnson; a brother, Richard Thomas; a sister, Carolyn Hurley; grandchildren, Marcus Brown, Cassandra Jenson, Selena Brown, Eli Johnson and Emma Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at Mount Zion Baptist Cemetery in Blairsville, Ga., with Pastor Harold Stiles officiating.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy.
