Benny Nations
Benny Ray Nations, 73, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Andy and Geneva Nations.
Benny was a U.S. Army veteran. Benny was a telephone contractor.
After his retirement, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening.
Benny was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Ronnie Nations; and one sister, Barbara Winters.
He is survived by his companion, Mary “Geri” McCombs; one brother, James Nations (Rebecca); best friends, Larry and Randall Huskins, Vernon Deitz and Bud Wilson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastors Harold Holbrook and Javan Harper will officiate.
A meal will be provided for the family and friends following the service at Fort Hembree Baptist Church in Hayesville.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
