Art Richter, 81, of Nantahala, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, in a Flat Rock, N.C., care facility.
After high school, he began working as a plumber in his father’s business. Art started building houses and formed Forrest Cabinets in Hudson, Fla., in 1993.
He moved to Nantahala in 2002, where he continued his career as a carpenter.
Art attended First Baptist Church of Andrews.
He was the son of the late Howard Arthur and Helen Fensky Richter. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Richter; and a stepdaughter, Kelley Jean Grande.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Kelley Richter; a daughter, Lora Lee Richter of Hudson, Fla.; a son, Michael Arthur Richter and wife Crystal of Spring Hill, Fla.; a stepson, Stephen J. Grande and wife Cori of Framingham, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Braden Richter, Michael Caruso, Gianna Caruso, Trenton Richter, Adam Childress, Kelsea Peckham and husband Brian, and Ali Childress; and a great-grandchild, Cody Joseph Peckham. He was much loved by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
