Alwayne Hunt
Alwayne Arrant Hunt, 95, passed away Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2021, at home in Cumming, Ga., surrounded by her daughter Helen Garrett Jones and husband Gerald Lee Jones and family.
She was born Dec. 12, 1926, to Thomas Bascom Arrant and Ruby Scroggs Arrant in Canton, N.C. She was raised in Brasstown, and worked as a waitress and in retail stores in Murphy. She was a caregiver for her parents in their final years.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen (Gerry) of Cumming, Ga.; and Reba Jean Martin (Larry) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; grandchildren, Kelli Garrett Allen (Patrick) of Canton, Ga., Heather Wilson (Scott) of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Danielle Brown (Mark) of Acworth, Ga.; and her great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Wilson; Sydney and Mason Brown and Kaitlyn, Maddie and Lauren Allen.
She loved her “babies” with an unending passion.
She enjoyed bird watching, flowers, sitting on the porch, reading the newspapers and word search books, and the family “puppy dog,” Lexi.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward Ralph Hunt; and her brother, Lomer B. Arrant of Waynesville.
She is survived by sisters, Sue Arrant, Petaluma, Calif., and Peggy Stalcup, Gainesville, Ga.; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Murphy with the Rev. Aud Brown officiating.
