    Albert Dockery, 85, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, in a Hayesville care facility.
    He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.
    Albert served in the United States Marine Corps. For 20 years, he worked as a mechanic and drove a tow truck for his brother, Steve. He later retired from Ingram Appliance.
    Albert was a charter member of the Murphy Quarterback Club and attended Murphy First Baptist Church.
    He was the son of the late Prichard and Cora Franklin Dockery. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Owens and Ethel Rowland; and two brothers, Steve and Roy Dockery.
    Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Kate Conley Dockery; a daughter, Joy Tipton and husband Ed of Blairsville, Ga.; three sons, Roger Dockery and wife Cathy of Memphis, Tenn., Randy Dockery and wife Vickie of Murphy, and Butch Dockery and wife Paula of Murphy; a brother, Frank Dockery of Murphy; and 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Hayesville Church of Christ with the Rev. Robert Seibert officiating. Military rites were provided by Murphy American Legion Post 96, Hayesville VFW Post 6812 and Hayesville American Legion Post 532.
    The family received friends from 4:30-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Albert Dockery to: Cherokee County Ministerial Association, P.O. Box 1422, Murphy, NC 28906.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
