Andrews – “Neighbors Loving Neighbors” – Ordinary people are offering their time and love to pray for our community, businesses and neighbors. During July, teams meet daily at the tent site, a grassy mall near Robbie’s Grill. Some knock on doors offering prayer, others pray for business leaders and merchants.

And, in August, the Freedom Prayer Ministry will offer a week of healing, liberating prayer beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Freedom tent located at 1 Wilson St., Andrews. Here are the stories of some who cheerfully give of their time to pray for us.

Healing after an automobile accident – Kevin Haag

My wife, Julie, and I were involved in a serious head-on accident while driving to Tennessee on “The Tail of the Dragon.” Being Christians, we both knew God had saved our lives. However, we sustained serious injuries. Mine involved my lower back.     Although friends and family prayed for us, we wondered “does God still heal people today?”

So when one suggested a week-long healing seminar, we went. We were encouraged by teaching from Bible verses that emphasized Jesus curing all kinds of issues. During that week I came to realize that God wanted his children to “prosper and be in health” (3 John 1:2).

God’s love assured me that I’d be OK. I declined surgery, but followed the doctor’s orders for physical therapy. Prayer plus patience plus therapy got me to 99 percent healed.

God is love. All can experience God’s blessings thanks to the suffering of the Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, Jesus still heals today restoring broken people – physically, emotionally and spiritually.     “Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD, blessed are all who trust upon Him,” (Psalm 34:8).

Meet us at Freedom Prayer Ministry at the tent at 2 p.m. Aug. 3-10, and experience the Lord’s love and grace.

Healing character flaws – Bethany Clark

“Bob and I remember where we were before Christ. Between Bob and I, we’ve had to overcome a lot of obstacles and bad habits: broken relationships, alcohol, drugs, family suicides and abuse. It all added up to many character defects.

We may be still works in progress but Jesus has done so much for us helping us gain victory over our pasts with love. That’s what motivates us to reach out to others with love and grace.

To us, loving our neighbors means being available at times of need and simply hanging out together. We love to show the love of Christ to all persons no matter their past. No one is beyond Jesus’ love.

Let Him love on you. Meet us at Freedom Prayer Ministry at the tent.
