Andrews – The town’s annual Trunk or Treat event was a sweet success on Oct. 26, despite being driven indoors due to afternoon rain showers.
Andrews Chamber of Commerce Director Nola Cooper worked quickly with Gil and Trudy Reynolds of Andrews United Methodist Church to switch the venue to the church’s Family Life Center. Cooper said she always has to have a contingency plan, especially after Oktoberfest was canceled this year due to Hurricane Helene.
“We’re grateful to Andrews United Methodist Church for providing their facility for us,” Cooper said.
Hordes of eager candy-seekers, from ghosts and goblins to wolves and witches, lined the block from the alley of the church to the corner of Main and Chestnut streets.
With more than 20 tables available, a wide range of local businesses, churches and civic organizations offered a wide variety of snacks and candies. The crowds left happily with plenty of treats and no tricks in bucket, hand or pillowcase.
Costumes ranged from the athletic to the ethereal, as kids of all ages packed the gymnasium to gather their sugary goodies. Not one to rest too soon or on an event’s laurels, Cooper said the chamber is already looking forward to next year’s event.
