Around 200-300 people attended the Sept. 16 funeral for Andrews High School stalwart Kenneth Solesbee, who died on Sept. 8 at age 83. The funeral was held in the Ken Solesbee Athletic Center, the basketball gymnasium named in Solesbee’s honor. The ceremony was officiated by Phillip Hodge, Lance Bristol, Frank Maennle and Dr. Gary Roper. Later, Solesbee was laid to rest at Valleytown Cemetery, with the graveside ceremony officiated by the Rev. Eddie Hardin. Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Solesbee coached and taught thousands of local students.
