Kevin Austin Cochran, 36, of Robbinsville Road, was arrested and booked on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges including felony serious injury by vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, hit and run with property damage and failing to stop, assault with a deadly weapon and injury to personal property.
Andrews Police Chief Caleb Stiles said the case is under investigation. Cochran was released on bond before his officers had a chance to interview him.
Bond was set at $25,000, according to court records. A court appearance was scheduled for today.
The incident began on the evening of Nov. 25, outside Ronnie’s, a popular local restaurant and bar at 75 Wilson St.
Stiles said Cochran, driving a Ford F-150 pickup, crashed into a car in the Ronnie’s parking lot and left the scene. The driver of that vehicle was uninjured, Stiles said.
Cochran was next seen at the Shell gas station off Stewart Road on the east side of town, where he attempted to buy something but his debit card was rejected. He said something unintelligible to a man pressure-washing the building and allegedly rammed his truck into the worker, inflicting serious injuries to the man’s pelvis that may affect the worker’s ability to walk again, Stiles said. That victim was taken to Chattanooga, Tenn., for treatment.
Stiles said Cochran ran into some woods behind Hardee’s restaurant, where he was captured by law enforcement. Names of the victims were withheld.
