Murphy – Just over four months ago, 24-year-old Makenna Cook suffered from an AVM aneurysm. Her prognosis went from dire to promising as Cook continued to fight for her life.
Cook has a condition called arteriovenous malformation, a sudden acute headache. She had a severe headache on Jan. 8, then the AVM aneurysm. Today, she is rehabilitating at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
Her father, Chad Cook, a U.S. Forest Service firefighter, said in a Facebook post, “I have witnessed firsthand that there are still a lot of good people, like all of you, in this world. I would like to thank all of the volunteer fire departments in Cherokee County that had a boot drive for Makenna.
“I would also like to thank each of you who donated money during this boot drive to help pay for Makenna’s medical expenses. We love all of you dearly!”
In addition, a 5K run and walk to benefit Cook will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Konehete Veterans Park. The cost to register on the day of the event is $35.
