Murphy – Lotsa Memories Antiques & More invites the community to join Peter Rabbit and Friends for an Easter Bunny Extravaganza fundraiser benefiting the World Food Program.
For the entire month of April, all sales of Peter Rabbit, Friends and other items – such as mechanical bunnies, chickens and handmade Easter cards by local artists – will go in full to the World Food Program to help feed starving children worldwide.
Additionally, Lotsa Memories is holding a Bunny Raffle. The raffle is for an adorable bunny looking for its forever home. The bunny will come with a cage and starter set of supplies, such as a food and straw.
Raffle tickets cost just $2 each and all proceeds will go to the World Food Program. The drawing will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, but you do not need to be present in order to win.
The World Food Program is a United Nations program that has been fighting on the front lines of the world’s hunger crises, fighting against hunger and famine since 1962. Their goal is to help starving children and families across more than 17 different countries.
The program provides food, medical care, and clean water that many people don’t have access to. This year, their goal is significantly larger, aiming to provide lifesaving meals to 140 million of the world’s most vulnerable people in more than 120 different countries and territories.
Donna Ratzlaff, owner of Lotsa Memories Antiques & More, felt Easter was the perfect time to help and bring awareness to the cause and efforts of the World Food Program.
“It’s a time of year we all feel extra blessed, and I think everyone can do something to help,” she said.
Ratzlaff opened Lotsa Memories at its current location more than two years ago. The mission of the store is to do something with it that can help other people. Ratzlaff is a member of the United Methodist Church, and part of their lifetime ministry is love, justice and service, and the store is part of that ministry.
Ratzlaff worked overseas helping provide food to some of the same areas the World Food Program continues to support.
“I know what it’s like to hold a 4-year-old the weight of an infant, and it’s something I’ll never forget,” she said. That pushes her to do more to support programs that focus on feeding children.
Ratzlaff believes, as a nation, we should be more focused on ensuring all children are fed and have access to medical care and hopes others are compelled, especially during the Easter season, to help.
