Deputy finds missing dog

On the morning of May 16, Cherokee County sheriff’s Deputy Vallee was dispatched to a local residence in reference to a dog issue, according to a release.

Vallee arrived to an owner of a dog that was upset because his dog had been missing for three days, and each night he could hear him crying on top of the mountain.  Being a dog lover himself, Vallee requested permission to begin looking for the lost dog with the owner.

The two men went up the mountain in search of Hank, the lost dog. After a long hike, they started to hear the muffled sounds of a dog.

Vallee started moving brush and fallen branches, and he saw a little nose peaking out from under a log. He dug the poor dog out and lifted from the mud.

Hank was so exhausted he could not walk. So Vallee started carrying Hank down the mountain. Full of mud and exhausted himself, Vallee was still smiling as he brought Hank home safely.

Shortly after the rescue mission, Hank’s owner called to express is gratitude to Vallee and the sheriff’s office.
