Meth leads to 2 arrests

Deputies with the Graham County Sheriff’s Office accompanied N.C. Probation & Parole on a June 4 home visit and left with much more than a check-in from the resident. While conducting a check at 3258 Old Tallulah Road, members of both the state and local authorities on the scene noted what was deemed a “suspicious” package sitting on atop a truck tire on the property.
A search warrant was then obtained and officers unzipped the bag to find a hefty amount of methamphetamine inside. Between the package and a subsequent look through the home, authorities came away with 348 grams of meth, or 0.77 pounds.

The discovery led to the arrest of two individuals at the site – tenant Ronnie Ray Underwood Jr., 40, and Keleigh Victoria Duckworth, 30, of Andrews. Underwood was charged with a probation violation, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for use/storage/sale of controlled substances. Duckworth received a charge of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a schedule II controlled substance and trafficking in methamphetamine.
Underwood’s bond was set at $500,000, while Duckworth’s was $150,000.
“We look forward to continued collaboration with Probation & Parole, and other law enforcement partners, to ensure the safety and security of our community,” Graham County Sheriff Brad Hoxit said in a June 18 release about the arrest.
