Pursuit ends with 3 in jail
The pursuit of a vehicle traveling back and forth between Georgia and North Carolina on Friday resulted in three Cherokee County residents facing drug charges in both states, according to a release from Clay County Sheriff Mark Buchanan.
Towns County, Ga., investigators began pursuit of a Chevrolet Cruise that had traveled down N.C. 69 into Georgia. They abruptly turned around and fled back into North Carolina, with investigators in pursuit.
A few minutes after the vehicle was stopped a mile into North Carolina, Clay County officers arrived. A search of the Cruise yielded about 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Patrick James Sizemore, 26, of Murphy; Jonathan Dewayne Newton, 29, Marble; and Lilyaunna Helen-Kiff Hall, 22, of Murphy, were arrested and taken to the Clay County Detention Center. In Clay County, the three suspects were charged with felonious possession of methamphetamine and felony maintaining a vehicle for the use, storage or sale of a controlled substance.
Sizemore, Newton and Hall were also charged in Towns County with various drug charges. From staff reports.
