Murphy – The Murphy Farmers Market had its final and special Christmas craft show of the 2021 season on Dec. 4.
Vendors displayed all their handmade wares including hand painted trinket boxes, jewelry and feline attire, as well as pine cone ornaments, jams and jellies and a variety of birdhouses, just to name a few. This was a special market day set aside as an opportunity for folks to shop for Christmas gifts, and plenty of people did just that.
Courtney Byers, a regular vendor at the market, was selling handcrafted mugs and tumblers as well as wooden signs. When asked how she felt regarding the end of the shows until next year, she said, “It’s bittersweet because I love coming out here and talking to all the other vendors, but at the same time it gives me the much-needed break to stop for a while and recreate for next season.”
Beautiful Christmas and themed wreaths were on display thanks to Becky Buscema with Becky’s Bevy. She was happy to be out for this special market, but added, “It’s sort of sad, I wish it could go on a little longer.”
A large pine cone owl made by Pilailak Schulze from Pila’s Crafts was among several other pine cone creations of hers, including tissue box covers.
Eileen Frisch and Regina Temple who are both nurses have created ER Sisters. Their handcrafted items were also at the market. Regina’s items on display were her brightly colored bandanas for four-legged friends as well as bow ties for the “well dressed pooch.”
Eileen was selling handcrafted wine holders and wooden serving trays made from reclaimed oak barn wood, as well as Christmas ornaments and wall hangings. Eileen said of the last market day for the season, “I feel saddened. I enjoy coming here and seeing the people as well as the dogs and it’s become like a family.”
Their products are made from recycled items.
Ana Gomez and Roberto Casin with 2 Cats Creations had a booth at the market as well. They were selling handcrafted jewelry, wooden cutting boards, wall hooks, bowls and crosses.
At the close of the market, Migdalia Jolliffe, an organizer of the event, said, “It was amazing, and all the vendors were incredible. I’m looking forward to next year.”
