‘Gilligan’s Island: The Musical’ comes to Valleytown Cultural Arts Center

Body

Andrews – The Valleytown Cultural Arts Center presents Gilligan’s Island: The Musical at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Seven talented cast members will re-enact the wacky exploits of Gilligan and his gang of disparate castaways, who are stranded on a desert island after taking a three-hour boat tour. The play, written by Hope and Laurence Juber, is an adaptation of the wildly popular 1960s television show Gilligan’s Island.

Sawyer Bradley, playing the leading role of Gilligan, captures the character’s goofy energy. Corey Cheeks (the Professor), a stage veteran, adds experience to cast, many who were too young to remember the show.

Ashley Eller directs the madcap musical, with all ticket proceeds going toward the purchase of air conditioning for the historic 100-year-old building.

The Andrews Art Museum and Cherokee County Arts Council will hold an art opening at 6 p.m. before each performance. Homespun Hobbies, Cups & Cones, Garnet Girls and several members of the Community Youth Players will provide desserts before the show to sweeten this family friendly experience.

Tickets are $20 per person, which includes desserts and art show. For details about tickets or to donate to the Valleytown Cultural Arts Center, call Lori Coffey at 828-360-4108.
