Murphy – Join the Murphy Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, when the Cherokee & Clay Food Alliance will sponsor “Fun with Fruit Day.”
Fun with Fruit Day will feature cooking demos and tastings that will show you how to create delicious preparations for your pantry and your table. All demos will be held in the L&N Depot at the Farmers Market location. Here is the schedule.
- 9 a.m. “How to Make Apple Chutney.”
- 10 a.m. “How to Make Fruit Salsa.”
- 11 a.m. “How to Make Grape Jam.”
- 11:30 a.m. “Friendly Fruit Pie Contest,” $5 to be a judge.
The Friendly Fruit Pie Contest invites local home pie makers to submit a fruit pie made from scratch to be judged by attendees of the Farmers Market. The crust and filling must be homemade.
Pies should be baked Saturday morning and arrive by 10:30 a.m.
Anyone interested in being a judge will give a $5 donation to the event and must sample all the pies in the category they choose to judge.
