Andrews – The Andrews Chamber of Commerce has several events planned for the public in October and November.
- Oktoberfest will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. Join other local residents and visitors from across the tri-state area, who will be going out for fun, food, wine and beer as well as numerous arts and crafts. The musical lineup for Oktoberfest includes Blue, Struck By Lightning, The High Strangeness and Ol’ Dirty Bathtub.
- Shop Where Your Heart Is, an event sponsored by the chamber as part of Small Business Saturday, kicks off during the Open House set for Saturday, Oct 23. The drawing will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, when the chamber picks one lucky winner from all the entries to receive a gift bag filled with gift certificates from each business totaling $600. Visit the chamber's Facebook page for a list of participating businesses.
- Trunk or Treat offers a wonderful opportunity to come to downtown. Decorate your vehicle, give out candy to the kids and see all the fun costumes and decorations from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. This is a great way to keep kids safe while they have fun.
- The Mystery Machine, complete with Scooby-Doo, will be playing music, including “The Monster Mash.” The Andrews Volunteer Fire Department will also be decorated and passing out treats, while the chamber will be posting costumes on Facebook.
- From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, downtown will be filled with holiday cheer as Christmas on Main Street kicks off the holiday shopping season. Andrews’ annual holiday festival will have more than 100 craft vendors with a wide variety of crafts for everyone, three entertainment stages and the annual Christmas tree-lighting and church bells ceremony.
The Christmas tree will have new decorations this year, and there will also be automobiles on display. Entertainment will include the Victorian Singers, who will be walking around while they sing. There will be a children’s train at the corner of Locust and First streets, complete with a place to get your photo taken with Santa Claus.
- One week later – at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 – the annual Magic on Main Christmas Parade will be held. The electric nighttime parade will be lit up and beautiful as entries make their way down Main Street. There will be bags of candy for the kids and, of course, Santa.
Fill out an application if you are entering a float in the parade. Everything will be lit up for the judges. First- and second-place float winners will get an award and have bragging rights. Everyone is invited to these family fun events.
