Andrews – Four Square Community Action, a nonprofit organization that provides services to individuals and families who need emergency assistance, received a $50,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation.
Four Square Community Action is one of 39 organizations in North Carolina to collectively receive $1 million in grants from the Duke Energy Foundation. The grants will help meet basic needs as demand for services increases.
“Four Square Community Action is excited to be a recipient of this grant. Through the advancement of our online and technology services, we will use the funds to increase our capacity to serve counties in western North Carolina both in making application processes more accessible and expanding our capacity through various housing (rental and repair), food services and transportation support programs that provide for the basic needs of qualified low-income families in our service area,” said Dr. Sue Lynn Ledford, executive director of Four Square.
“Duke Energy is proud to support the vital work of agencies like Four Square that serve our local community and meet critical needs,” said Lisa Leatherman, district manager of government and community relations with Duke.
