Murphy – A generous local volunteer is relocating to Ohio.
On Nov. 4, Mayor Tim Radford, longtime volunteer Nancy Helms (aka “Ms. Voluntold”), AmeriCorps member/Lead for N.C. Fellow Ona Elkins, Cathy Yost with the Mayor’s Rising Stars and Joan Dockery, a lifetime member of Grape Creek Homemakers Club, attended the afternoon ceremony.
The group made sure Tracy Davis was recognized for her dedication to the community prior to her departure on Nov. 9.
The event, held at Murphy Town Hall, was a brief but heartfelt ceremony to recognize and honor Davis with a certificate of appreciation and framed memory photo.
Davis has freely given of her time to help with the Mayor’s Rising Stars, attending each of the meetings. She has also been at every Rotary of Murphy event, helped with the Hiwassee Dam Food Bank distribution and was a former president of the Grape Creek Homemakers Club.
Each of those in attendance agreed that Davis stepped up and volunteered her time whenever the need arose.
“I’ve enjoyed my time being here, and I will definitely come back,” Davis said after receiving the gifts of appreciation.
The laughter and chitchat over shared memories made for an easygoing and fun time among friends.
“Thank you for creating a possible impact on our community, we appreciate you so much,” Radford told Davis at the close of the celebration.
