Easter comes early to Hiwassee Dam

  • Photos by Sam Jokich/Staff Correspondent Hiwassee Dam was alive with excitement Sunday afternoon, when hundreds of kids big and small met at the fire department for food and fun before moving over to the baseball field for the annual hunt of more than 2,000 Easter eggs filled with prizes. Many kids had their routines down pat. Volunteers handed out hot dogs, ice cream, cotton candy, popcorn and drinks for the happy crowd. The strong sense of community was great to see under a beautiful spring sky along N.C.
