Traffic on four downtown Murphy streets was affected just past 4 p.m. Aug. 15 because of a two-vehicle collision. A pickup driven by Zachary Mulligan was turning from Hiwassee Street onto Tennessee Street into the path of a vehicle driven by Tammy Spivey, who was headed straight across the intersection from Valley River Avenue to Hiwassee Street. The intersection is the location of a planned traffic circle.
