Couple accused of selling heroin

Ellijay, Ga. – Two Murphy, N.C., residents were arrested last week across the state line and charged with trafficking heroin.

Jamie Willis Whitener, 44, and Natalie Lynn Scogin, 47, were charged with trafficking heroin after being stopped on Georgia 515 North in Gilmer County on March 30. Whitener and Scogin were known by the law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation to be involved in trafficking heroin between Gilmer County and Murphy.

About 10.9 grams of heroin worth about $1,600 was seized in the investigation. The Cherokee County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office, Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and GBI Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office made the arrests.
