Murphy – MainStreet Murphy Director Laura Lachance updated town council

members about developments with downtown businesses during the February board meeting.

  • 6 Tennessee St.: This property formerly housed Appalachian Overstock. The new owner of the building has plans to open a business and lease the remaining space to other businesses. The building is undergoing interior renovations.
  • 19 Tennessee St.: The new owner of this restaurant space is making improvements and will reopen with a new name – Poor Parson’s Pub.
  • 53 Peachtree St.: Renovation continues on the interior of this building. Shore Construction is doing the work. When the building nears completion, the first-floor space will be leased to a business.
  • 17 Valley River Ave.: Interior renovations commenced in this retail/restaurant space. The building owner has signed a lease for a coffee and crepe restaurant that will serve breakfast and lunch. They are scheduled to open in April. The business owner is making interior renovations.
  • 10 Valley River Ave.: Renovation continues for the new location for Buck Bald Brewing. The business owner has a tentative date of April for transferring the business from their current location to the new one.
  • 66 Hiwassee St.: The second floor of this building is undergoing renovations to provide office space.
