Murphy – Copious amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl were seized in a traffic stop Oct. 20.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, at 9:08 p.m. a deputy with the Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop near the 2400 block of Caney Creek Road. When the vehicle came to a stop, a man identified as Roger Wayne Stockton
fled from the back seat of the vehicle into the wooded area.

The deputy was able to detain Stockton without incident. Located near Stockton was a pouch containing 56.6 grams of meth, 21.7 grams of cocaine and 5.7 grams of fentanyl. Also recovered was a loaded firearm.
The release from the sheriff’s office says Stockton, a convicted felon, has
been charged with:
- Trafficking in methamphetamine by transport;
- Trafficking in methamphetamine by possession;
- Trafficking in opium or heroin by transport;
- Trafficking in opium or heroin by possession;
- Felony possession of cocaine;
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substance;
- Possession of drug paraphernalia;
- u Possession of firearm by felon.
Stockton received a $265,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court today.
