Andrews – Food Truck Fridays Summer Series is in its third year and has become a well-attended event in western North Carolina. The event has traditionally been held on the second Friday of every summer month through September.
Brian Wilson, the Town of Andrews event coordinator, met with Andrews Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nola Cooper, and the two came up with a plan. Beginning in May, the town will partner with the chamber to expand the event to twice each month on the second and fourth Fridays.
The food truck and vendor event will still be held in the same location at Harold H. Hall Memorial Park on First Street, with live entertainment in the gazebo and picnic tables in the grass. The event takes place from 5-8 p.m. and includes local musicians, vendor, and food trucks of all types. Visit visitandrewsnc.com for details on who’s playing, who’s selling and who’s serving.
“Food Truck Fridays is always so much fun! It’s an opportunity to listen to great regional music while enjoying wonderful local foods in a picnic-style setting, learning about local businesses, and then picking up some great local arts and crafts.” said Cooper, the event’s organizer. “Whole families come and spend the entire three hours enjoying the laid-back atmosphere.”
The Gazebo Stage, sponsored by Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy, offers the perfect venue for bands and musicians to entertain festivalgoers.
Andrews Recreation Department Director James Ellis said, “The partnership with the Andrews Chamber of Commerce and their Food Truck Fridays Series only makes sense to do. The chamber and the town both have the same goals of making Andrews a better place for its residents, as well as its visitors. The more we work together, the more we can offer.”
The next two dates on the calendar are Friday, May 12, and Friday, May 2. Bring a blanket or a chair, or you can sit on the bleachers near the stage.
